The Art of Fugue is the culmination of Bach’s experimentation with instrumentation having a single dominating theme.

Piano Trio No 1 in D minor, Op. 49, Felix Mendelssohn (1809 – 1847)

Molto Allegro ed agitato
II. Andante con moto tranquillo
III. Scherzo: Leggiero e vivace
IV. Finale: Allegro assai appassionato

The Piano Trio No 1 is one of Mendelssohn’s most popular chamber works and is recognized as one of his greatest.

This work is commonly referred to as the Archduke Trio, dedicated to Archduke Rudolph of Austria, son of Leopold II, Holy Roman Emperor.
