December e-Notes — A Holiday Treat!

Sure to make your spirits merry and bright, BURNING RIVER BRASS will present an evening of holiday music on Saturday, Dec. 17th.  A Civic Music favorite, the 12 member ensemble returns with a crowd-pleasing lineup of traditional carols, “Burning River Nutcracker”, and songs of the season.

Burning River Brass, based in Cleveland, Ohio, started when a group of friends, who just happened to be outstanding musicians, wanted to play together on a consistent basis. Within two years of its debut performance in 1996, the group was touring nationally.

In 1999 Burning River Brass recorded its first CD–Of Knights and Castles.  Met with great critical acclaim, it was followed by Russian Carnival in 2000 and Romanza Espana – Spanish Masterworks for Brass in 2004.  During the 2005 holiday season, Burning River Brass released its long requested Christmas CD – Christmas Around the World, followed by the 2008 release of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. CDs will be sold at the concert.

Burning River Brass has been heard on NPR’s Performance Today and Sunday Baroque as well as radio stations throughout the United States and abroad.
