Pianist Lilya Zilberstein, a longtime favorite of Civic Music, Milwaukee Symphony & Peninsula Music Festival audiences, will return to the Green Bay stage accompanied by her sons Daniel, 20, and Anton, 15, in their American concert debut.
Since winning First Prize in the 1987 Busoni International Piano Competition, Lilya Zilberstein has established herself as one of the finest pianists in the world. She has appeared with the Chicago Symphony (at Ravinia), Milwaukee and St. Louis Symphonies, the Berlin Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, London Symphony, Vienna Symphony and Moscow Philharmonic, to name a few.
Lilya has presented numerous recitals alongside Martha Argerich and toured extensively with Russian violinist Maxim Vengerov. Featured on the EMI recording Martha Argerich and Friends: Live from the Lugano Festival, Mr. Vengerov’s and Ms. Zilberstein’s performance of the Brahms Sonata No. #3 for Violin and Piano wan a Grammy nomination for best classical album as well as best chamber music performance. Lilya has made numerous recordings for Deutsche Grammophon.
Daniel and Anton, sons of Lilya and her husband Alexander Gerzenberg, perform professionally as the Duo Gerzenberg. They received first place prizes at the Steinway Competition held in Hamburg, Germany, their city of residence. Last year their tour of Taiwan included recitals at universities and a two-piano concerto with the Taipei Symphony. They performed in music festivals in Germany and Italy.
