Accordian Virtuosi! The accordion is traditionally an instrument of the people, a centerpiece of popular culture and folk music around the world. The Accordion Virtuosi of Russia have toured extensively in Europe and North America, dazzling audiences with exquisite arrangements of traditional Russian folk songs and familiar classical favorites. Founded by Pavel Smirnov in war-torn Russia of the 1940s, the ensemble is led today by his sons Yuri and Vladimi and grandson Yaroslav.
The Accordion Virtuosi include 30 accordions, a percussionist, a pianist, and a conductor who is also a violinist.
